Mary Tornetta, RN, Co-Founder and International Missions Servant Leader, Hands in Service
In 2007 Ed and I travelled on a trip sponsored by Calvary Church to serve with Pennsylvania United Medical Association (PUMA) in Nepal for the first time. We were captivated by the beauty of the Himalayas, the gentle, quiet ways of the villages, but more than anything, the spiritual hunger of the people there. We were overwhelmed by the amazing work God was doing in this country torn by civil war. On that very first trip, we met a family of children who had lost both parents to Typhoid. The oldest son, Krishna, was caring for six younger siblings. They became our family in Nepal. The youngest three children, Laxmi, age 7, Raj Bahudur, age 4, and Som Bahudur age 2, moved into the PUMA children’s homes in Kathmandu in January, 2008; they were joined by their older sister Prem in 2012. These four children have all accepted Christ and are beautiful examples of what God can do when his love and his Gospel are shared in a place with people hungry for hope. We are so honored that they call us Mom and Dad. On this trip, our sweet Laxmi, now 17 years old, will be a medical interpreter for our team. What a blessing to now get to serve along side of this sister in Christ that I get to also call my daughter.
The medical teams in Nepal will offer a temporary relief to the suffering of the people we meet, but most importantly, the pastors and our evangelism team will share hope beyond this life.
I often tell people that I am only a hammer in the hand of the almighty carpenter who is building an incredible place for more people than we can imagine. Would you be willing to support me as I serve as a tool in His hand?
1 Corinthians 15:19 “If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.”

Matthew 25:40 The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine you did for me.”
I love the concept of this verse but struggle with the use of the word least. The ones we seek to help are not least in my eyes. They are more like undiscovered or forgotten treasures. Would you consider partnering with the team and me as we trek into the Himalayan Mountains of Nepal in search of these precious treasures? Each one that we come in contact with is so valuable and you can help us to help them.
We will be conducting medical clinics in the remote villages of Manang that do not have easy access to medical care. Maybe you cannot travel half way around the world with us but you can support our team by giving financially and by praying for safety, travel mercies and for God to use us as He has planned. By joining our support team you will be part of our team as we serve in Nepal. Thank you!

Jaimashi Dear Ones!!
Explaining why you see my smile on the website, that's easy!! Way back when I was 8 years old I accepted Christ as my very own Lord and Savior. Through the years I have seen God work in so many ways in my life and my loved ones lives. When I serve with Hands In Service I have the privilege of sharing Christ with young and old. There is no way I can keep the JOY that JESUS has put in my heart to myself. Teaching Bible lessons, doing crafts, playing games just showing the love of Christ, this is my privilege and joy in life. That is why you see my smile on Hands In Service's website.

Paul Whitehouse, all round good guy and willing servant.
I am a retired Pennridge math teacher and have been attending Calvary Church for the last 7 years. I had been looking for a way to become more active in the church and serve the Lord when I saw in Calvary's bulletin that a medical mission trip to Nepal was being planned for January, 2018. No experience necessary! I volunteered and spent two unforgettable weeks in Nepal assisting with basic medical care of the local villagers in Lamjung and helping to spread the good news of God's grace. I am looking forward to returning to Nepal this May to continue serving Him in my own small way.

So far the Nepali team members that we are sure will be with us are:
Padam Tamang, Field Director for PUMA
Padam Tamang is the Field Director for PUMA in Nepal. He manages several aspects of PUMAs Nepali ministry, including organizing and leading the short term medical teams that come to serve in Nepal. His strong but gentle leadership skills, his love for the Lord and his ready laugh help us all to feel safe and cared for as we experience the mission God has prepared for us. He is one of the most resourceful and flexible leaders we have ever encountered and we’re blessed to serve under his guidance as he serves under the Lord’s guidance.

We have all heard the saying: “Helping others is the way to show God’s love every day.” We often sing these words as we lift His awesome name on high. I want to be the hands and feet of Jesus, helping others and expressing His love through simple actions and just letting these people know that there actually is a God looking out for them, and He will answer them if they call upon Him. I think being a part of the H.I.S. team will be an awesome experience for me, especially being able to share God’s greatness.

We will add the names of our Nepali team members as Padam notifies us of who will be on the team.
Please pray for the team and all of the people that the team comes in contact with over the course of this mission.

If you would like to be a part of our prayer team that will receive updates about the team while we are in Nepal, please email [email protected].
We will be travelling farther and higher into the Himalayas than we have previously, so please pray for travel mercies. We expect to travel by Jeep and trail hiking for 18 hours after we leave Kathmandu to reach the first village we will be serving. We’re hoping to offer medical care to more than 600 people while we are there.
