our disaster relief Efforts

Hands In Service responds to natural disasters using 2 methods of relief:

Sending needed items throughout the different stages of recovery:

• In the early stages of disaster relief efforts, we partner with relief agencies on the ground and connected to the community. For several weeks throughout the recovery period, we collect and ship only items identified as essential at the time they are requested.  This prevents overloading relief centers with items not needed at that time.  

 
Organizing and sending recovery teams:

• Once a plan for clean up and recovery has been established, we will determine if a team of volunteers should be organized and sent into the area. When teams are sent we work under other organizations already established in the community with a plan that we find effective and compassionate.
• Ready Response: We are currently investigating whether or not we will be able to send "Ready Response Teams" into disaster areas within a week to ten days of a disaster within a twelve-hour driving distance from our location.  We're looking for people who would be willing to be trained and ready to go at a moment's notice.  If you're interested in learning more about this initiative, please contact [email protected].
