When Hands in Service first started offering opportunities to volunteer at the Donation Distribution Center, we weren't sure who to expect. And then the retirees showed up and they have become a huge part of the work that gets done. 75% of our regular volunteers are over the age of 50; and they have a work ethic far beyond expectations! In 2025, we had just over 4000 volunteer hours and more than 3000 of those hours were donated by people well past their "careers".
